Dr. Josette Salazar is the founder of Delaney Eye Center and a board-certified optometric physician passionate about delivering exceptional, personalized eye care. She specializes in keratoconus, post-surgical corneas, and other complex eye conditions, with a focus on advanced specialty contact lenses that restore vision patients often thought was impossible.

Dr. Salazar and her team welcome patients who require specialty care and provide solutions rarely found in a traditional exam setting.

Born in Spain while her father was in medical school, Dr. Salazar grew up in sunny Coral Gables, FL, surrounded by her big Cuban-American family. She attended Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart and later Davidson College in North Carolina, where she earned her degree in Sociology and fell in love with southern charm.

​

She went on to complete a post-baccalaureate in Medical Science at the University of Miami before earning her Doctor of Optometry degree at Nova Southeastern University. During optometry school, she met her best friend and roommate, Catherine Weibel, who would later convince Josette to marry her older, bald, and crazy brother, Jeff.

​

In Orlando, Dr. Salazar built her career at Magruder Eye Institute, Target Optical, and Visionworks in the Millenia area. Then, in 2020, she opened Delaney Eye Center—believing that 20/20 was the perfect year for an optometrist to launch a new venture. COVID quickly tested that optimism, but it also gave her the chance to refine systems, hire top talent, and invest in state-of-the-art technology.

Today, Delaney Eye Center is thriving—five years strong and growing beyond what Dr. Salazar ever imagined. The practice specializes in advanced corneal care, scleral and specialty contact lens fittings, pediatric eye care, and seamless referrals to trusted ophthalmologists. For patients who want both clarity and style, the optical boutique offers an unmatched selection of designer frames and what Dr. Salazar likes to call “cool-ass glasses.”

She often says, “Happy eyes = happy life.” That belief shapes every patient experience at Delaney Eye Center—personalized, comprehensive, and truly one of a kind.

Outside the office, Dr. Salazar has officially retired from her “soccer mom” duties. Her two oldest, Joey and Jill, are both in college, while Winston, now a senior, is chasing his dream of playing Division I soccer.

 

These days, she balances running a thriving private practice with cheering on her kids, making trips to Auburn, AL, and Tallahassee, and enjoying the adventure of family life.
